Based in Upavon, Wiltshire and close to
the world renowned chalk streams Avon, Test and Itchen,
the company is headed by John Hotchkiss.
John is a qualified GAIA trout casting
instructor and professional guide with over 40 years'
fly fishing for trout, sea trout and salmon throughout
the world. He has fished in New Zealand for wild brown
trout, steelhead in British Columbia, even for sea-run
char in Greenland! For many years he has fished for
salmon in Iceland, Russia and Norway and has fished
most of the Scottish and Irish salmon rivers. Sea trout
fishing is also one of his passions.
Recently John produced the acclaimed TV
fly fishing series ‘The Take’ which was
filmed throughout the world. The23, half hour programmes
were shown in the UK on Sky Sports and in ten countries,
from Austalia to Russia!
Ever since he was a small boy, John's
main love is to fly fish for trout on the southern chalkstreams,
and over the years has been privileged to have experienced
fishing on many famous beats.
Hotchkiss Fly Fishing was established
to provide first class fishing and guiding on premier
beats of our renowned chalkstreams to individuals and
groups. We have gathered together a team of guides who
are all seasoned and expert anglers, all qualified instructors,
and most importantly, have the people skills that can
communicate to clients their passion for our wonderful
sport.
In addition the company hosts annual
salmon fishing trips to premier beats on the rivers
of Iceland, Norway and Scotland and can facilitate wonderful
wild brown trout fishing in South Island,New Zealand.
Whatever the client's level of skill,
whether they are looking for a day's guided trout fishing,
one-to-one tuition, a day fishing alone, that special
salmon trip abroad, we pride ourselves on offering an
expert and personal service.
